Chapter 2759 - 2760: Encountering the Sea Monster Again
"How is Ling Bo? Is he okay?" Bei Gui asked.
"It’s not life-threatening, but he needs a few days to recover. Why don’t you stay on the boat for a few days until he’s feeling better?" Bai Ruozhu said.
Bei Gui looked at his companions, and they finally nodded in agreement.
"If it were anyone else, we wouldn’t be willing to interact. We’re only doing this for Madam Bai’s sake," a birdman teenager said arrogantly.
Bai Ruozhu was already accustomed to their arrogance and conceit, so she smiled and said, "Thank you, I’ll have someone arrange rooms for you."
"Not too low, we of the Golden Wings Clan prefer sleeping in high places," another birdman said.
Fo Lanying came over with a displeased look and said, "The top of the mast is high, why don’t you sleep up there?"
"Great idea, I’ll sleep up there tonight," the teenager said happily.
The other birdmen said, "We’ll sleep there too."
Bai Ruozhu and Fo Lanying exchanged a glance, don’t these Second Goods know they’re being mocked?
Well, let them be. If it rains, they’ll know what discomfort means.
As they were speaking, Ling Bo woke up, opened his eyes, and saw many people around him. He jumped up like a startled rabbit and shrank pitifully into a corner.
"Don’t be afraid, it’s all a misunderstanding. We’re friends of the Golden Wings Clan." Bai Ruozhu said gently.
Ling Bo seemed very timid, with his head down, retreating into the corner while making an angry animal-like whimpering sound, appearing quite pitiful.
Bei Gui walked over and said a little helplessly, "Ling Bo, don’t be scared, Madam Bai is our friend and has helped the clan tremendously. She just treated your wounds."
But Ling Bo was still trembling, Bei Gui said helplessly, "He’s a clan member we recently found, very timid."
"Heluo has already sent you to search everywhere? What’s the result?" Bai Ruozhu asked.
"Ling Bo is the third one. There may be more clan members found elsewhere. The patriarch and elders feel quite guilty for discovering them late," Bei Gui sighed and continued, "Like Ling Bo, he lived on a small island and suddenly grew wings at ten years old. The villagers saw him as a demon and drove him and his mother out. They could only live in the deep mountains on the island."
"Why does he look different from you?" Bai Ruozhu pointed to Ling Bo’s face and drew a circle with her finger.
Ling Bo, frightened, hid behind Bei Gui.
"Maybe his biological mother is a common person, his wings are lighter in color than ours. As for the facial markings, he did them himself. He once thought he was a demon but couldn’t fly well and was often beaten, so he made himself look like this to scare others, really just to protect himself."
Bai Ruozhu nodded, suddenly feeling sympathetic towards Ling Bo. He’s just a pitiful child, suddenly discovering he’s different from those around him, labeled as a monster, he must be confused, not knowing if he truly is a monster or where he belongs.
"Alright, he’s still injured. Help him to the room to rest." Bai Ruozhu said.
Bei Gui went to help Ling Bo, who slowly got up but then looked down at the stitches on his wound and screamed, "What’s this? Am I dying?"
"We stitched your wound; it’ll fall off in a few days." Bai Ruozhu explained.
Perhaps it was her kindness or her gentle voice, Ling Bo wasn’t as scared anymore, lowering his head and saying, "Thank you."
Ling Bo was sent back to the room, Bei Gui, worried, stayed with him.
After a while, Bai Ruozhu sent someone with medicine, which he drank obediently, unlike those stuck on the mast who were difficult to handle.
"They look more like bats than birdmen," the Prince of Fusang said sourly.
Bai Ruozhu held back her laughter, "You almost shot someone dead, they were just trying to scare you, yet they were surprisingly polite."
The prince opened his mouth but was guilty, lowering his head and saying nothing.
Bai Ruozhu nodded secretly, he didn’t talk about his noble identity, much better than before, he grew up after experiencing so much.
"Go back to sleep and don’t bother us," Jiang Yichun kicked the prince lightly, who walked away in a huff.
Bai Ruozhu held back her laughter, "You really kicked him, after all, he’s a prince."
"I don’t care; if he doesn’t behave, I’ll throw him to the fish." Jiang Yichun grinned mischievously.
She knew her man might really do that, pinched him lightly, "Be magnanimous, don’t feed him to the fish, or his sister will be heartbroken."
Jiang Yichun laughed, "It depends on his behavior."
Then, there was a knocking sound at the door, and Yizi quietly asked, "Master, am I interrupting?"
"Not at all, come in." Yizi entered the room, glanced at Jiang Yichun, seemingly hesitant to speak.
"Don’t worry, just say it," Bai Ruozhu said.
Yizi felt somewhat embarrassed, quietly saying, "In the morning, Yaxi secretly asked about my relationship with Tang Gongzi. I think she might have misunderstood something."
"What? She thinks Jianqi is dead?" Bai Ruozhu exclaimed.
Yizi’s face turned red with shyness, "Master, stop teasing me, Jianqi and I don’t speak much in front of others."
"Tomorrow, you two should show some public affection to avoid misunderstandings," Bai Ruozhu said mischievously.
"Master!" Yizi stomped her foot, "I’d rather explain to Yaxi."
"Alright, alright, I’ll talk to her tomorrow. You don’t say anything yet, maybe you’ll need to help with an act," Bai Ruozhu said.
Yizi’s face fell, "You won’t use reverse psychology and have me pretend to like Tang Gongzi? Back when Lan Ying used that trick, it forced me to jump off a cliff."
"Who knew you were so foolish? Don’t worry, here you can only jump into the sea!" Bai Ruozhu gritted her teeth, still daring to mention that, a few big fools.
After Yizi left, Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun tidied up and went to sleep, but the rocking of the Boat grew stronger.
"The wind and waves are picking up again; we won’t sleep well tonight," Bai Ruozhu complained.
"Just rest assured; if anything happens, I’ll handle it," Jiang Yichun patted her, signaling her to rest.
Suddenly, huge waves crashed, something emerged from the sea, hitting the Boat hard.
The birdmen on the mast were shaken and fell out, but they were awakened and flew back into the sky.
"Oh my god, such a big Sea Demon, quick, everyone wake up!" the birdmen shouted.
Old Ding woke up and quickly instructed his disciples to go on deck, seeing the giant Sea Demon, everyone was shocked.
Unlike previous deep-sea monsters, it wasn’t an octopus, more like a giant Whale, but not a Whale, the Fish Fin was enormous, beating the Boat with loud bangs.
Jiang Yichun cursed under his breath, "Can’t believe I mentioned it, now it’s really happening, I better go check it out."
