Devil's Army

Chapter 1858 Recapture of Ruichang County

Chapter 1858 Recapture of Ruichang County

The sniper from the 2nd Regiment fired two shots, killing two Japanese engineers, and then quickly moved to a new position.

As soon as the sniper left, Japanese machine gun bullets began to volley in his direction.

After half a day, the engineers still hadn't cleared all the landmines from the path ahead.

The Japanese army deployed a sniper specifically to deal with the snipers of the 2nd Regiment.

The sniper, who had just moved into the bushes, was looking for an opportunity to snipe the Japanese engineers.

Suddenly, a ray of sunlight reflected off a mirror in front of him dazzled him.

The sniper quickly put down his rifle and began to observe carefully. However, he no longer saw the sunlight reflected by the reflector.

The sniper adjusted his angle to prevent the mirror from reflecting sunlight onto the other side.

Then he lay motionless on the grass, waiting for the Japanese sniper to give himself away.

Without the threat of the snipers from the Second Regiment, the Japanese engineers were able to clear mines much faster.

Japanese engineers finally cleared the landmines in front of the mountain position.

The main Japanese force continued its advance.

When the Japanese troops reached the front of the mountain position, they stopped advancing.

They had been ambushed by the New Fourth Army here, so it was hard to guarantee that the devilish troops wouldn't be lying in ambush here as well.

The Japanese commander dispatched a search party to investigate.

When the Japanese search party arrived in front of the 1st Regiment's position, the 1st Regiment Commander, having no longer been able to hide, ordered his men to open fire.

A barrage of gunfire suddenly erupted from the ravines and hillsides.

A large portion of the Japanese search party was immediately wiped out.

The well-prepared Japanese mortar troops immediately launched a fierce bombardment of the regiment's positions.

The soldiers of the regiment were forced to take refuge in the artillery shelter.

The remaining Japanese search party soldiers took the opportunity to quickly retreat.

The artillery units deployed by the regimental commander on the hillside immediately launched a sweeping counterattack against the Japanese mortar positions.

The Japanese artillery units in the rear began probing bombardments, only to discover that the Devil Force's artillery and infantry positions were all within their blind spots.

Before the Japanese artillery positions could be moved forward, the Nanxiong Air Force of the First Army arrived to provide support and launched a fierce bombing and strafing attack on the Japanese infantry exposed in front of the mountain positions.

The Japanese troops in Ruichang County were blocked for several hours by landmines because the reinforcements from Nanchang were blocked.

They were now blocked by another regiment in the southern mountains of Ruichang, unable to reach Ruichang County to provide support. They were driven out of Ruichang County by the second regiment around 4 PM.

The Japanese commander in Ruichang knew that a "devilish" force was fighting against reinforcements from Nanchang in the south.

After exiting Ruichang through the west gate, they detoured to Jiujiang.

The second regimental commander led his soldiers in hot pursuit, chasing the fleeing Japanese troops while preparing to detour and annihilate the Japanese reinforcements in Nanchang.

The Japanese army launched several attacks in Nanchang, but failed to break through the First Regiment's resistance.

With the fall of Ruichang County, a regiment of the devilish troops attacking Ruichang is now bypassing the county from the west gate.

To avoid being attacked from both sides by the devilish troops, the Japanese major ordered his troops to retreat to Jiujiang County.

Shortly after this large contingent of Japanese troops from Nanchang withdrew into Jiujiang, they received a telegram from Colonel Ikuta:

The devilish troops are attacking Nanchang. They have been ordered to defend Jiujiang County to the death and prevent this devilish force from attacking Nanchang from the direction of Jiujiang.

The major then ordered the troops to stop retreating and divided them into three groups, one of which built fortifications in Xiao'ao, Nanyi Town, in the southern part of Ruichang County.

We traveled to the Minshan Fortifications, located in the southwest of Chaisang District, Jiujiang City, in northern Jiangxi Province.

The last route involved constructing fortifications at Danaoshan, near Hongyi Township in Ruichang City.
